Failure Is Not An Option

As a little girl I remember my mother saying, “Gina, failure is not an option.” At the time I didn’t understand. As I became older, she constantly embedded this mantra in my head. I finally understood what she meant. She wasn’t telling me I couldn’t or wouldn’t fail, she was saying when you fall, get back up.

We only become a failure in life when we allow our circumstances to knock us down and keep us down. I have fallen more times than I can count. Yet, I always get back up. Sometimes I’m so bruised until I feel like staying down. It is at that moment I hear my mother’s voice, “failure is not an option.”

It is in the fight to get up over and over again that I’ve learned who I am, and the strength I possess. It is in the fall and the rise that I became closer to my heavenly Father and realize where my strength derives.

Often I receive e-mails and calls from women sharing their stories, their struggles and challenges. Some are women who are high profile executives, some are stay at home moms or single mothers, others are women seeking to launch a new career or start a business. Regardless of who they are, or what they do, my advice is always the same, failure is not an option.

I share my story of overcoming my own trials and tribulations and hope that it will inspire them to seek God for the strength they need to continue on their journey. The goal is to never loose faith; as faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

I know there are days when we all want to say, “Enough, I can’t take anymore.” When that happens, take a step back, breathe, have a moment, and get back up again. If you are willing to endure the trial, the triumph will come.

What I have learned is success is never easy. However, once achieved it is so worth the struggle.
Wherever you are on your journey called life, remember, Failure Is Not An Option.
