I Have A Dream

I’ve always been a dreamer. As a little girl I would play dress up in my mother’s clothes and pretend to be Miss America. I would pretend to be a famous actress, powerful lawyer, and a get it done right now agent. LOL!

My mother would watch me transform into my many rolls. Not once did she ever say my dreams weren’t possible. She never said because I was a woman, or a black woman my dreams were too high. She always said with a smile, “You can be anything you want to be. Continue to dream, and never stop.”

She would tell my father and he would say, “Gina, remember this…nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream, and most of those are nightmares.”

At the time, I thought my father was telling me not to dream. As I got older, I realized he was saying just the opposite. My mother was empowering me with love. My father was empowering me with wisdom. He was telling me not to sleep on my dreams.

In order for a dream to become a reality, you must work hard day and night. There will be many sleepless nights. There will be days when you want to break down and give up. Don’t.

If you have a dream, you, and only you, through God given strength can make it happen. You have to Believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were created for greatness.

You have to know that God called you to carry out the task. You have to know if He gave it to you, it will manifest. Keep your head in the sky. Don’t look down. Don’t stop dreaming.

Yes, there are days I think my dreams are too big. I think I should be content with just being. I feel its too hard and no one cares. When I feel this way, I remember my parents words. I remember who I am and where I come from.

I remember that I am the daughter of two amazing people, Jimmy and Bertha Grant. I remember I am adopted into the body of Christ. And with that, I remember I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Until next time, continue to dream, Soar and Celebrate The Brilliance Within!
